"Angels from the Realms of Glory" is a beloved Christmas carol from the early 19th century. This tune celebrates the Bible story of Jesus' birth, calling us to worship the newborn king. Find its lyrics and video performances below!

1 Angels from the realms of glory,
wing your flight o'er all the earth;
ye who sang creation's story
now proclaim Messiah's birth:

Refrain:
Come and worship, come and worship,
worship Christ, the newborn king.

2 Shepherds, in the field abiding,
watching o'er your flocks by night,
God with us is now residing;
yonder shines the infant light: [Refrain]

3 Sages, leave your contemplations,
brighter visions beam afar;
seek the great Desire of nations;
ye have seen his natal star: [Refrain]

The Story Behind Angels From the Realms of Glory

"Angels from the Realms of Glory" is a Christmas carol written by Scottish poet James Montgomery. It was first published in the Sheffield Iris on Christmas Eve 1816, though it only began to be sung in churches after its 1825 reprinting in the Montgomery collection The Christian Psalmist and in the Religious Tract Society's The Christmas Box or New Year's Gift.
