In today’s episode, Becket talks with the British historian, Tom Holland, about his brilliant book, “Dominion: How the Christian Revolution Remade the World.” We look at how Christian assumptions are underneath everything including the French Revolution, Harvey Weinstein & #METOO, and the Women’s March. Time itself is grounded in Christianity in terms of the calendar we use—B.C (before Christ) and A.D. (anno domini – the year of our Lord). All of time turns on the incarnation of Christ! Our entire society is saturated by Christian concepts and assumptions.
About the book:
Crucifixion, the Romans believed, was the worst fate imaginable, a punishment reserved for slaves. How astonishing it was, then, that people should have come to believe that one particular victim of crucifixion-an obscure provincial by the name of Jesus-was to be worshipped as a god.
