A prayer based on Luke 6:45.
Yesterday, as I drove my son and his best friend to baseball practice, I overheard them talking about what they would do if they received one wish and could ask for anything they wanted. They batted around some interesting ideas like, I'd like to get good grades for the rest of school, or I'd like to never be wrong again, or even I'd like to know the outcome of every decision I make so I don't make a wrong one. As I listened, I couldn't help but wonder what I would wish for if I had the chance, and the answer came to me pretty quickly. I'd wish for my kids to follow Jesus passionately and without reserve all the days of their life.

A Prayer for Overcoming Doubt with Divine Assurance - Your Daily Prayer - September 19
One morning, in my study of 1 Thessalonians, I read these words from Paul in 5:1-11, lingering over our key verse, “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.” As he often does, Paul reminds believers that they are soldiers in God’s army and must prepare and protect themselves for battle.
