Inspirational Christian Quotes: Top 25 from Books

Have you ever experienced a gripping sermon where the entire congregation is silent because they are hanging on every word the pastor says?  That is the same feeling I get when I read a well written book.  There are many great Christian authors that we can look to for guidance and for role models.  Here are 25 of the best quotes from Christian authors.  These are in no particular order.

"The Truth" Psalm 18:32-34 The God who equipped me with strength and made my way blameless. He made my feet like the feet of a deer and set me secure on the heights. He trains my hands for war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

25.  C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, and irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”

24. Frank Peretti, Hangman’s Curse

“A little love and attention can go a long way...too bad more people don't realize that.”

23. Joyce Meyer, Woman To Woman: Candid Conversations from Me to You

“I may not be where I need to be but I thank God I am not where I used to be.”

22. Ted Dekker, White

“The battle over flesh and blood cannot compare to the battle for the heart.”

21. Billy Graham, Nearing Home

“Jesus Christ did conquer death, and by His resurrection He was victorious.”

20. Roy Hession, The Calvary Road

“And nothing is so searching and humbling as to look at the Lamb on His way to Calvary for us and to be shown in how many points we have been unwilling to take the position of a lamb for Him.”

19.  John Piper, Battling Unbelief: Defeating Sin with Superior Pleasure

“The strength of patience hangs on our capacity to believe that God is up to something good for us in all our delays and detours.”

18. J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

“Faithless is he that says farewell when the road darkens.”

17.  Tim LaHaye, Spirit-Controlled Temperament

“Fear is an inhibitor that has kept more people from fulfilling their destiny than any other one emotion.”

16.  Francis Chan, Crazy Love: Overwhelmed by a Relentless God

“Something is wrong when our lives make sense to unbelievers.”

15.  Max Lucado, He Still Moves Stones

Faith is not the belief that God will do what you want. It is the belief that God will do what is right.”

14. Ravi Zacharias, Can Man Live Without God

“I am absolutely convinced that meaninglessness does not come from being weary of pain; meaninglessness comes from being weary of pleasure. And that is why we find ourselves emptied of meaning with our pantries still full.”

13.  David Platt, Radical

"Disciple making takes place multiple times every week in multiple locations by an army of men and women sharing, showing and teaching the Word of Christ and together serving a world in need of Christ."

12. Rick Rusaw and Eric Swanson, Living a Life On Loan

“Love is the basis for noble deeds.  Our love for others outside our homes means little if we don’t first start by loving those in our homes.”

11. Howard Baker, Soul Keeping: Ancient Paths of Spiritual Direction

“The one who is on the path of steady growth knows he or she must take part in guiding others, or face stagnation, and even lose what has been gained.”

10. Craig Van Gelder, The Essence of the Church: A Community Created by the Spirit

“God’s redemptive purposes take place within an arena of a power encounter.  This occurs between the church and the fallen principalities and powers as the church is led by the Spirit in the world.”

9. Francine Rivers, Redeeming Love

“I used to believe the purpose in life is to find happiness.  I don’t believe that anymore.  I believe we are all given gifts from our Father, and that our purpose is to offer them to Him.  He knows how He wants us to use them.”

8.  Philip Yancey, The Jesus I Never Knew

“Power, no matter how well-intentioned, tends to cause suffering. Love, being vulnerable, absorbs it. In a point of convergence on a hill called Calvary, God renounced the one for the sake of the other.”

7.  Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth am I Here For

“Other people are going to find healing in your wounds. Your greatest life messages and your most effective ministry will come out of your deepest hurts.”
