Great American Family’s Modern Twist to ‘Little Women’ Promises All-Star Cast and Holiday Spirit

The classic story about the March sisters from Little Women is getting a modern re-telling on Great American Family. The family-friendly network announced on Wednesday that it will produce A Little Women’s Christmas, a contemporary version of the popular novel that will follow the lives of the March sisters in a small Tennessee town at Christmastime.

It is scheduled to release this holiday season as part of the network’s fourth-annual Great American Christmas event.

The new movie will feature an all-star cast, including Jen Lilley (A Paris Christmas Waltz, Days Of Our Lives) as Meg March, Laura Osnes (Just In Time, A Dash of Christmas) as Beth March, Jillian Murray (A Brush With Christmas) as Jo March, Julia Reilly (County Rescue) as Amy March, Trevor Donovan (‘Twas the Text Before Christmas, Jingle Bell Princess) as Friedrich “Fritz” Baehr and Jesse Hutch (A Christmas Blessing, B&B Merry) as John. Grammy-winning artist Gladys Knight performs a new Christmas song, Joy.

Brandon Clark (The Engagement Plot, The Happer Camper) is directing it.

Little Women was released in the 1860s by Louisa May Alcott and told the story of four sisters growing up and finding their place in life. The original story was set in Massachusetts during the Civil War.

A Little Women’s Christmas is a new Christmas classic in the making, with an incredible ensemble cast and an adaptation of an original story that is one of the best I have read,” said Bill Abbott, president and CEO of Great American Media. “Louisa May Alcott was intentional about focusing on the culture of young women, their hopes, ambitions, and dreams, and it remains one of the most widely read and beloved stories ever written.”

The classic novel has featured several versions in recent years, including a 2019 version directed by Greta Gerwig, a miniseries in 2017, and a contemporary version of the story in 2018.

A Prayer to Be a Bridge Builder - Your Daily Prayer - August 7

Peacemakers are willing to see past their own worldview to make a bridge that is safe for all who cross it. How can we make those who we come in contact with feel safe if the bridge we attempted to build feels unsafe for them?
