6 Ways Your Faith Can Strengthen Those Around You

When you are living every day with a dependence on God, you can be also strengthening the faith of those around you. Whether it’s in your home, at work, or at school, people notice the difference of your faith in God and it gives them hope. Many times you may feel discouraged at your shortcomings and wonder if you can really make a difference. However the Lord knows how to turn your weaknesses into strengths when you make a good effort towards strengthening those around you. Discover the 6 ways your faith can strengthen others:

Your Testimony of Faith

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony” (Revelation 12:11).

Your testimony of how God saved you whether as a child or an adult can have a significant impact on those around you. The moment you transitioned from darkness to light needs to be shared with others. The presence of God has an incredible ability to bring conviction to those who need to know Him. When you share your testimony, people can relate to you better and know that the same God who saved you can also save them as well.

Your Walk of Faith

“It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it” (3 John 3).

When you walk out your faith on a daily basis, it reveals the faithfulness of God on your life. Some people only live out their faith on Sundays when they put on a good face and nice clothes. However what you do all week long speaks volumes more in strengthening and encouraging those God has placed around you. The Lord can empower you to really live out what you believe when you seek Him in prayer and Bible study.

Your Talk of Faith

“Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself” (2 Corinthians 4:13-14).

When your words bring life and peace instead of negativity, even unbelievers can sense God’s presence on your life. When you don’t know what to say, ask the Holy Spirit to guide you into the right conversations. Those around you can pick up encouragement and strength as you speak out the truths of God’s word. As you mature in the Lord, it will become a regular part of your speech to tell of God’s grace on your life.

Your Attitude of Faith

“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds” (Ephesians 4:22-23).

Bad things happen to Christians and non-Christians every day. The difference is that those who are in Christ Jesus have hope even in the midst of great difficulty. Your attitude of faith creates an awareness of God’s goodness and His ability to bring good out of evil circumstances. The faith and confidence of a believer is reflected in his or her demeanor on a regular basis.

Your Service of Faith

“We sent Timothy, who is our brother and co-worker in God’s service in spreading the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith” (1 Thessalonians 3:2-3).

Being a service to others is the calling of everyone is a child of God. You were saved by grace to do good works and through your service of faith—many people can be strengthened and renewed in the Spirit of God. Service can be demonstrated at any place and at any time. With sensitivity and awareness, you can know when the Lord is leading you to serve others.

Your Community of Faith

“We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing” (2 Thessalonians 1:3).

When the body of Christ comes together in worship and service in their communities—people from all walks of life are touched. It’s not just what you do as a church, but your love for one another that captivates those in the world. You are a representative of the body of Christ and collectively, you bring a greater presence of God’s goodness and peace to a lost world.

From Strength to Strength

Begin every day with a prayer asking God to give you how to testify, walk, talk, and serve others in your attitude and community of other believers. You may never know in this lifetime how many people were encouraged as you let God have His way in your life. There’s renewed joy and strength for you as you strengthen others.
