5 Christian Business Owners To Admire
January 08, 2013

Today it is hard to find business owners that really care about their faith in God. You can find many that claim to have faith, but when you see their work ethic it makes you think otherwise. Here is a list of 5 godly business owners that really take their faith in God seriously.
Lowell Paxson
(Home Shopping Network, PAX TV)
Lowell Paxson, also known as Bud Paxson, is mostly known for starting the “Home Shopping Network”. In the peak of his success as co-owner of HSN, his wife left him for another man. This shattered his life and he sold his stock in the company and left it for good. He was surrounded by wealth and success, but he felt like the least successful man on the planet. After opening up a Bible one night and reading scripture, he renewed his life with the Lord and continued his journey with God by starting PAX TV. This was another venture that he was very successful with. He also found love again and remarried. He is quoted as saying, “A business principle God has taught me is if you ask him to lead you in serving him with your business, job or career, you’ll be successful beyond your wildest dreams.”
"The Truth" Proverbs 24:3-4 Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge the rooms shall be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
Frank E. Peretti
(Christian Novelist)
Frank E. Peretti is a Christian author, who takes serious thought when writing his novels. Although some may say that writing books is not owning a business, that is what makes him money. Writing is his business and he does it all for God. Many of his novels have an eerie feel to them, as they cover the issue of spiritual warfare. His most popular book, This Present Darkness, was published in 1986 and has since sold over 2 million copies. It is an intense thriller that shows the power of prayer. His sequel, Piercing the Darkness, did very well also. He also has written books for children and teens. He has played in a bluegrass group, done screen writing, worked construction and helped his father pastor a church. As a writer, myself, I can only aspire to be as talented as Frank. His books are amazing and all have elements of his faith in them. His faith is very easy to see and he stands behind it. Frank once said, “You want proof there's a God? Look outside, watch a sunset.”
David Green
(Hobby Lobby)
David Green is the CEO and founder of Hobby Lobby. He started his business in 1972, while allowing his faith in God to permeate into the workplace. David said, “I've always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God's laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that's what we've tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week's biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest.” He said this in a statement opposing Obama Care, which would make him pay for medications that could cause abortions. He is a true warrior who stands behind his faith. How many companies do you see today taking a stance like this for God?
Bill Hearn
(EMI Records)
Bill Hearn is the CEO of EMI records, which is the largest Christian music company today. He inherited his role from his father, Billy Ray Hearn. Bill takes his faith seriously. In 1995 he worked so that Christian and gospel music sales would be recognized and tracked through SoundScan. This was a huge move because now the world can see the impact of Christian music in society. Chris Tomlin, The Newsboys, Steven Curtis Chapman and Underoath are a handful of the bands that EMI represents. Bill Hearn’s faith is clear as he said, "The core of our vision is to impact culture and resource the Church with quality and culturally relevant music and products consistent with a Biblical worldview."
Dan Cathy
(Chick-Fil-A)
Dan Cathy, president of Chick-fil-A, is a clear choice for a role model in today’s culture. Like David Green (Hobby Lobby), Dan closes up shop on Sundays. He is well known for his remarks on homosexuality from last year. Although many exaggerated his comments and made him look like a Nazi, he wasn’t rude at all. He made his opinion in a well-mannered way and steered away from name calling, and bashing the homosexual community. He wanted people to know that if God thinks homosexuality is wrong, than he did too. Dan regularly visits different Chick-fil-A’s to serve and to see how he can better the dining experience of his customers. He values the company’s corporate mission, "To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A."
These 5 men are great examples of Christian business owners of today. They all put their faith in action in the workplace.

A Prayer for God's Direction in Your Life Choices - Your Daily Prayer - April 1
After realizing that becoming a general manager at a fast-food restaurant wasn't God's plan for me, I trusted in His guidance, prayed for direction, and ended up staying in the area, where I found a job and housing that became a pivotal part of my future success.
