Being a guardian is a serious responsibility. But can you imagine becoming the guardian of a former spouse? Well, that's exactly what Texas woman Kirsten Armstrong did to honor her vow of "til death do us part."
Life is a series of ups and downs, taking people to places and forcing them to confront situations they never imagined. Regardless of what life may throw at people, love and the promises people make to one another do not change. If one doesn’t keep their word, what good is their word or that promise?

Kirsten Armstrong has demonstrated that she meant that she would always love and care for her first husband, even after he suffered a traumatic brain injury.
In a clip posted on YouTube, Kristen explains that following the car crash, Brandon was disabled and confined to a wheelchair. This dramatically altered their relationship. Kristen became more of a nurse and mother to Brandon.
So, understanding that she would never ever be able to have children with the love of her life, she divorced Brandon. However, at the same time, she filed to become Brandon’s legal guardian.

Kristen said that Brandon would always be in her life. She stated that she would provide care for him “until the day that I die.” She mentioned that she has been Brandon’s legal guardian for 15 years.
After doing this, Kristen even changed her career to provide Brandon with the best care possible. She now works with patients who have suffered traumatic brain injuries.
Kristen later met, fell in love with and married James. According to the video, one of their first dates took place at church with Brandon.
James considers Brandon as another member of his and Kristen’s family. James even helps to care for Brandon as well, feeding and changing him.
