Teen Seeks Where To Return Lost Wallet Found At Walmart And Ends Up Befriending Grandma

A teenager seeks where to return a lost wallet he found at Walmart and ends up befriending a grandma. This story is one for the books.

If you’ve ever lost your wallet, you know the hopeless you feel about it being found. In addition to losing your wallet, feelings of dread fill your heart as you worry about the cash, the credit cards, and all the other personal identification items like your social security card being exploited.

I know the feeling after losing my own wallet in Flordia on a business trip. Luckily, a stranger found mine and mailed it to me in Nebraska. The money was gone, but everything else was still intact.

But the grandma in this incredible story had everything returned to her, and her blessings were multiplied through an unexpected friendship with a teenage boy.

Teen Finds Where To Return Lost Wallet

61-year-old Dee Harkrider had left her wallet in a grocery cart at Walmart. She didn’t know she had lost it until she received a Facebook message from a complete stranger. Delivontae Johnson was on his way to church when his tire blew. He pulled into Walmart to get it repaired when he noticed a wallet in a shopping cart near his car.

Immediately, Delivontae felt God called him to that parking lot for this reason. “I wasn’t supposed to be parking in that spot but thank God I did,” he said. He got his tire fixed, and then Facebook messaged Dee about the wallet. He told her he was driving out of his way to return it.

This teen has a heart of goodness, kindness, and integrity! He sensed God had put him in the right place at the right time to help Dee. Then he went out of his way to find where to return the lost wallet, all to ensure it made it back to the rightful owner.

Delivontae could have taken the wallet to a manager at the store. He could have mailed it or returned it any number of ways. Instead, he chose to take time out of his day to ensure it was placed right into Dee’s hands.

Teen's Act Of Kindness Touches Grandma

When Dee learned that she had lost her wallet, she was floored Delivontae was driving out of his way to return it to her. Though she didn’t have much to give him, she handed him twenty bucks and wished she could have done more. Because of his kindness, Dee decided to thank him in a unique way. She asked him to pose for a photo with her. In turn, she posted it to Facebook.

“I wanted people to know what this young man had done for me. I had to share it, Dee said. She added, “God watched over me. He brought this angel into my life. God sends people for a reason into each other’s lives.”

We couldn’t agree more. God cares about the little things just as much as the big things. I’m so grateful to be a part of God’s incredible family. He takes care of us in so many ways–whether it’s an assuming kind teenager or through some other act of kindness.

May God continue to bless this unlikely pair of friends.
