Amanda and Paul Riesel traveled from Orlando, Florida to Skye, an island in Scotland, to get married. But their dream wedding, which they had been planning for over 2 years, almost didn’t happen.
Their flight to Scotland was diverted to Philadelphia, and then they ended up experiencing three days of delays and different airports along their route.
"All of us had breakdowns along the way. It was delay, delay, delay," Paul said.
After all the delays, the exhausted couple finally arrived on the island of Skye the night before their wedding around 11pm. But the pair was in for another hiccup in their plan. Their luggage with all of their wedding clothes was lost!
"We got to the luggage carousel to see it was completely empty and our bags were not there. It dawned on me that we would have to cancel and there was nothing else I could do," Amanda shared.
But their wedding photographer, Rosie Woodhouse, knew that they could figure out a solution.
"I told them I was sure I could make this work," said Rosie. "Skye is an amazing place."
That’s when Rosie took to social to ask locals in the community to help out this couple in need. And in the middle of the night, many people came through to make Amanda and Paul’s wedding dreams come true!
There were eight different wedding dresses from the people of Skye that Amanda could pick from. And Paul was given a full kilt set to wear on the big day. All the details came together thanks to Rosie’s work behind the scenes and her generous community!
"Rosie did all of this, I was oblivious to all the work that went on in the background," Amanda said. "In the middle of the night people responded, one woman even dropped off normal clothes to help. We woke up to this beautiful thing orchestrated for us. Because of her perseverance we got married.”
Amanda continued: “Every single person Rosie introduced us to and that offered to help will forever have a place in our hearts. The people of Skye will be famous in Orlando because we will tell anyone who will listen that they are the reason our love was cemented into a perfectly imperfect wedding day. There will never be enough words for us to express how grateful we are."
