Cruel Viewer Body-Shames Weather Anchor But She's Not Letting It Get Her Down

When a viewer wrote a note to Tracy Hinson, KSDK weather anchor, complaining about the "bulge" in her "stomach," the feisty meteorologist knew just how to respond. Thankfully, Tracy is completely comfortable in the body God gave her!

In today's world of social media and oversharing, it seems everyone feels entitled to share their opinion. And for TV personalities like Tracy Hinson, that means getting their fair share of unnecessary criticism.

Tracy Hinson's job is to report the weather forecast for the KSDK TV station in St. Louis, Missouri. But when one viewer wrote in to complain, it had nothing to do with Tracy's reporting skills. Instead, the purpose of this feedback was to body-shame the meteorologist.

“Do you ever watch yourself giving the weather report?" someone named Mary wrote. "Seems that you need a girdle for the stomach overhang which shortens the front of your dresses!"

The bully went on to say, "Today was not the first time I have noticed this. Maybe you should wear a top that covers the bulge in your stomach."

Tracy Hinson of KSDK Responds To Body-Shaming

Mary's words could easily be very upsetting. But our true worth comes from God, not this world. And thankfully, Tracy seems to have a good grasp of that fact.

So, she responded to the blatant body-shaming in the best way possible!

“Dear Mary, yes I do watch my air checks,” Tracy Hinson of KSDK replied. "NO I will not be strapping myself into a girdle because you don’t like my belly. I like pasta, bread and cheese too much to obsess over my weight. I like my body and that’s all that really matters."

Thankfully, Tracy Hinson of KDSK knows the truth. But body-shaming is becoming all too common and can really wreak havoc on a person's self-esteem.

It's important to remember the power of our words.  Proverbs 18:21 tells us that, "death and life are in the power of the tongue." Let's make sure we're using our words to build each other up.

"For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:37
