Top 10 Newsboys Songs of All Time

There are songs that compel me to pull my car over and cry out to God. There are other songs that drive me to my knees and pray. With the Newsboys music, I’m want to stand on the mountain top and make courageous proclamations at the top of my voice. It’s hard to listen to their pop/rock beat with lyrics of conviction and sit still. It usually begins with a toe tap leading to the head bobbing and eventually my hands get to raising in praise to God. Take a look at the 10 Newsboys Songs all of time, but it’s best to listen while you read especially if you’re having a difficult day.

God’s Not Dead (2011)

“If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God” (1 John 4:15).

How many of us driving down the road cranked up this song? People reveal what they believe about God in how they live. Some people live day in and day out with no recognition or appreciation of God. However, we as believers have every opportunity to reveal how alive our God really is by what we say and do among those who don’t know Him.

We Believe (2013)

“We have come to believe and to know that you are the Holy One of God” (John 6:69).

What do you really believe? I’m often chastised in my spirit by this question when I find myself in the middle of a trial. Singing this song brings me back to what I believe and I’m encouraged to press forward in the faith. We must get beyond a passive belief about the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to living an active faith walk.

Something Beautiful (2006)

“He has made everything beautiful in its time” (Ecclesiastes 3:11).

Have you ever heard of the adage “beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”? Our God is the Originator of everything beautiful and in His eyes—we are beautiful. Through his grace we are given glimpses of beauty from a rising sun, a newborn baby, the conversion of a lost soul to being found, etc… In a world full of the ugliness of sin and death, we can find beauty if we see the world through God’s eyes.

It is You (2002)

“Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders” (Exodus 15:11).

Our God is uniquely set apart from every god that is worshipped in the world. No other god has the power to change our lives for good when we turn to Him. Through the death of Jesus Christ, we are released from the penalty of our sins and free to serve Him with all our hearts. The gift of the Holy Spirit keeps us continually connected to hear God’s voice and walk in His ways.

Your Love Never Fails (2011)

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).

The unconditional love of God triumphs over every sin, shortcoming, or disappointment in our lives. Many people love conditionally—I love you when you do this or that—but the love of God that flows out of us loves completely and forever. We are walking gifts of love and as recipients of this agape love, we can love each other in the same manner.

He Reigns (2003)

“The Lord reigns, he is robed in majesty; the Lord is robed in majesty and armed with strength; indeed, the world is established, firm and secure” (Psalm 93:1).

The Lord reigns above all people, things, and circumstances. We must remember this when we are tempted to believe that we are victims in this world. Through the absolute power of God, we are never alone or abandoned. His power is greater than any of the negative experiences of our lives which He works for a greater good.

I Am Free (2006)

“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36).

Captivity whether it’s spiritual, emotional, or physical can be devastating. There aren’t enough words to describe the elation of being set free and able to move throughout your life without the shackles. When Christ Jesus sets us free, we are free from the bondages of sin and death. Through Him, we are given the power over sin to live holy and righteous lives.

Live with Abandon (2013)

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death” (Revelation 12:11).

How many of us have said at one time “there must be more to life than this”? There’s a greater calling on our lives more than eating, drinking, sleeping, and working. We are called to be a holy priesthood of overcomers. Our lives should be marked with faith steps that stretch and grow us to be more like Christ.

Shine (1994)

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

Wherever we live or work, the glory of Christ shines through us. We are candles that aren’t meant to be hidden, but to shine out the reality of God. Think about the number of people around you filled with darkness. Every day and night there’s darkness—until you stumble into their lives shining out the hope of Christ even in the midst of personal hardship.

Miracles (2010)

“You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples” (Psalm 77:14).

The miracles performed by Jesus had to be one of the most awesome experiences ever witnessed by mankind. Yet the greatest miracles happen around us every day. The miracle of being spiritually awakened to Jesus Christ and living a completely transformed life—is absolutely breathtaking! The Lord still does miracles of healing and provision for His people. We as His followers have the opportunity to reveal His miraculous power in how we live.

Turn up the Music!

Our God is proclaimed holy, majestic, and powerful through the music of the Newsboys. May we not only listen and enjoy their music, but also get up and live it out among those who don’t yet know Him.
