Top 10 Colton Dixon Songs

Elise Cleary

Colton Dixon is one of the hottest voices in Christian music today. We first saw him on season eleven of American Idol and were mesmerized by his version of “Only Hope” by Switchfoot and “Piano Man” by Billy Joel. After the show, Colton was invited to perform on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, White House Correspondents Dinner and began releasing songs in 2012. His latest album Anchor was released on August 19 and many of the songs have already become hits on mainstream Christian radio stations.

Here are the top 10 Colton Dixon songs.

#10 “Anchor” from Anchor

This reminds me of an old song I grew up singing, “You are the Words and the Music.”

Favorite Lyrics

I need an anchor
To hold me through the storm
I see the danger
Can't fight it on my own
I'm crying out, I'm going down
On the edge and I need You now, my Savior
I need an anchor
I need an anchor

#9 “Let Them See You” from A Messenger

God’s grace covers all and He wants to use us as His vessels.

Favorite Lyrics

Who am I without Your grace
Another smile, another face
Another breath, a grain of sand
Passing quickly through Your hand
I'd give my life, an offering
Take it all, take everything

#8 “Back to Life” from Anchor

No matter what you have done in life, God can make you new.

Favorite Lyrics

I feel You break through the night like a flame in the dark
I feel my whole world shake as You awaken my heart
Only You can resurrect the part of me that's died
Only You can bring us back to life

#7  “Love Has Come for Me” from A Messenger

God’s work in your life truly begins when you give your life to Him.

Favorite Lyrics

Cause this is where I end
And this is where You start
And everything I needed
Is everything You are
Love has come for me
Oh, love has come for me

#6 “Through All of It” from Anchor

God will stand with us through all of life’s ups and downs. He will hold us and guide us through darkness and run with us through joyous times.

Favorite Lyrics

I have won and I have lost
I got it right sometimes
But sometimes I did not
Life's been a journey
I've seen joy, I've seen regret
Oh and You have been my God
Through all of it

#5 “Dare To Believe” from Anchor

Do you dare to believe that Christ is your savior?

Favorite Lyrics

I will dare to believe
That You are the Savior
Living in me
And I know You always will be
The God of the impossible
The God of every miracle
Here for the world to see
I dare to believe

#4  “Our Time Is Now” from Anchor

Now is the perfect time to live for Christ.

Favorite Lyrics

So raise a fist high
This is the first night
The beginning of forever
Now let the old die
Cause there is new life
Forever starts tonight
Our time is now, now, now, now

#3  “Never Gone” from A Messenger

There are times we may feel distant from God, but He never leaves us.

Favorite Lyrics

I never ever left you
Never ever left you, no.
He said I never ever left you
Never ever left you, no.
Jesus never ever left you
Never ever left you, no.
He sees us, even in the darkness
Now you know you’re not alone.

#2  “You Are” from A Messenger

Is God your everything? “You Are” is an awesome reminder of how God is everything we need.

Favorite Lyrics

You are the song
You are the song I'm singing
You are the air
You are the air I breathe in
You are the hope
You are the hope I'm needin'
Whoa
You are

#1 “More Of You” from Anchor

I love the lyrics “More of You, Less of me.” This is so true in a society that often focuses on selfish gain and having the latest and greatest.

Favorite Lyrics

More of You
Less of me
Make me who I'm meant to be
You're all I want all I need
You're everything
Take it all I surrender
Be my king
God I choose
More of You and Less of me
I need more of you
More of you

I’m assuming that Colton Dixon will be around for a while and it will be interesting to see how my top 10 list of his songs changes. Will he continue focusing on reaching a younger audience? Will he become the next Mac Powell of Third Day? Will he continue pushing into mainstream music? God knows what doors He will open, but I am excited to see what’s next for this 2013 GMA Dove winner for “Best Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year” for A Messenger.
