Top 10 Christian R&B Wedding Songs
December 31, 2014
The right wedding songs brings memorable moments that couples can look back and smile for years. Christian weddings encourage the intimacy between newlyweds without worldly sensuality. Their focus is on the longevity of a marital covenant that lasts for a lifetime and overcomes obstacles. Discover these top 10 Christian R&B love songs:
#1) I Promise – Cece Winans (2005)
“I will fulfill my vows to the Lord in the presence of all his people” (Psalm 116:14).
Married couples make a vow between God and themselves. The Lord is part of the wedding as He established marriage between one man and woman. Keeping the promise of marriage in the company of family and friends establishes the accountability of the vow.
#2) My Life, My Love, My All – Kirk Franklin (2002)
“I am my beloved’s and my beloved is mine” (Song of Solomon 6:3).
The marriage ceremony marks each person as for each other—everyone else is excluded. This includes any intrusion of well-meaning family and friends. The couple will learn to love, forgive, and accept each other through many difficulties to grow stronger in their marriage.
#3) Closer – JOE (2011)
“Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure” (Hebrews 13:4).
Sexual intimacy in the marriage is expected and desired for God’s people. Couples who wait until marriage to experience sex will enjoy the discovery and connection that it brings. This beautiful act designed by God is to bring the couple joy that only they should know together.
#4) I Found Love – Bebe Winans (2009)
“He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the Lord” (Proverbs 18:22).
The unconditional love of God to His people is the example of how couples are to love in marriage. Agape love is deeper than infatuation and lasts longer than lust. This giving and receiving of love is a cherished gift for the Christian couple as they walk together in Christ.
#5) Nothing without You – Smokie Norful (2004)
“See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone” (Song of Solomon 2:11).
While there is a spiritual identity in Christ as individuals—there’s also a spiritual identity in marriage as the two become one flesh. Death, divorce, and separation are a painful ripping apart of two people. Married believers must strive towards finding their united identity in Christ to overcome difficulties.
#6) I’m in Love with You – Fred Hammond (2012)
“Jacob was in love with Rachel and said, ‘I’ll work for you seven years in return for your younger daughter Rachel’ (Genesis 29:18).
Because of a continuing and growing relationship with the Lord, Christian couples can experience a renewed love in their relationships year after year. Every day our spirits are renewed in Christ in spite of physical, emotional, and/or spiritual setbacks. The Holy Spirit can breathe new life into any marriage where both people are open and willing.
#7) Usher Me – Arnetta Murrill (1999)
“Let him lead me to the banquet hall, and let his banner over me be love” (Song of Solomon 2:4).
Couples led by the Lord are ushered into His presence to establish a strong commitment and bond. This close connection can bring in the Spirit of God to influence generations of children afterwards. By following God’s leading in marriage, there’s a confidence in each decision and step towards His purpose.
#8) Lost without You – BeBe and Cece Winans (1996)
“For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate” (Luke 15:24).
When the Lord unites a husband and wife, there’s a bond that isn’t easily broken. The feelings of separation can make a couple feel lost until they are united with each other. God grants each Christian couple the capacity to love and stay together if they are willing.
#9) The Wedding Song – John P. Kee (2004)
“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready” (Revelation 19:7).
The wedding is a time of inexpressible joy and fellowship of family and friends who rejoice at the union. This is a time of hope for the couple as they model the future coming of Jesus for His bride, the church. Singing, dancing, and words of encouragement should be a part of every wedding celebration.
#10) The One He kept for Me – Maurette Brown Clark (2002)
“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows” (James 1:17).
The gift of God in the form of a husband or wife is a beautiful expression of His grace. A Christian couple celebrates how the Lord brought them together in spite of their own weaknesses and faults. His good gift is to be celebrated and encouraged to continue throughout eternity.
A Wedding made in Heaven
“I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband” (Revelation 21:2).
Our earthly weddings are often well-planned and romantic in nature. However, these weddings pale in comparison to the majesty and breathtaking experience of when the new Jerusalem will arrive for those who loved God. We are all in the preparation process of marriage as we continually look to the arrival of our Savior Jesus Christ.
