Top 10 Christian R&B Songs From The Last Decade

Crystal McDowell

Music in any genre changes over time. The Christian R&B music has made changes and yet has remained on top in their sound, rhythm, and meaningful lyrics. These artists have blessed multitudes of people across different cultures and generations because of their God-given talents. Check out the 10 Christians R&B songs from the last decade along with spiritual insights:

I Belong to You - Rance Allen

“Whoever belongs to God hears what God says” (John 8:47).

Most people want to belong somewhere or to someone. A sense of belonging helps us to feel wanted and a part of something bigger than ourselves. When we belong to God—our lives are never the same for He promised to always be there for us.

Without You – Nicole C. Mullen

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5)

Our accomplishments can’t be measured by human means, strength, or aptitude; but rather by our connection to God. Many in the world mock the dependence of the Christian on Jesus Christ. However our dependence on Him is what strengthens us to accomplish great things in the face of severe adversity.

Victory – Yolanda Adams

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Corinthians 15:57).

The victory of the believer begins at the moment of salvation and continues through to the next life in heaven. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we have victory even when the storms of life are holding us back at times. Yet because of our all-powerful God—we are free in Christ to have the ultimate victory.

God in Me – Mary Mary

“To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory” (Colossians 1:27).

Believers who walk out their faith will always leave a mark among those with whom they live, work, or go to school on a daily basis. The strength given to us by the Lord as we pray and seek His face isn’t always apparent to us as it is to those around us. It’s the God within that keeps us in times of difficulty.

Jesus – Kirk Franklin

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11)

The precious name of Jesus brings peace to our souls and yet His name can also bring torment to those who’ve rejected Him as Lord. We must call on the name of Jesus whenever we feel led by the Spirit of God to pray. Jesus Christ brings us peace and joy to renew our strength just at the mention of His name.

Never Would’ve Made it – Marvin Sapp

“But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it. And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth” (2 Timothy 4:17).

Many times we need to look back over our lives to really know how the Lord intervened time after time. None of us would go to heaven without Jesus and many of us would’ve been dead long ago if it wasn’t for Jesus Christ. It’s good to look back and ponder the hand of God over our lives.

Nobody Greater – VaShawn Mitchell

“When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, ‘I will surely bless you and give you many descendants’” (Hebrews 6:13-14).

In this world there are many acts of violence due to different religious beliefs. The stand of Christianity is that there is no one greater than Jesus Christ. As we face adversity for our stand that no one can come to God without Jesus, let us take peace that one day He will reign over the earth and usher in the glorious days of heavenly dwelling.

I Feel Good – Fred Hammond

“So don’t be sad. The joy of the Lord makes you strong” (Nehemiah 8:10).

Many times we have to encourage ourselves with songs, prayers, and meditations from the Scriptures. It’s tempting at times to keep our eyes on the circumstances instead of Christ and this can lead to feeling depressed. However if we keep our focus on Jesus, we can begin to feel better from the inside out.

Different – Tasha Page-Lockhart

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will” (Romans 12:2).

Everyone who has put their trust in Jesus will be different in one way or the other. The presence of God on our lives is evident when we live for Him rather than for ourselves. Being different is the fruit of the impact of God on our lives.

1 on 1 – Zacardi Cortez

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” (Mark 1:35).

There are times when we need to fellowship and commune with other believers for encouragement and mutual edification. Yet it is equally as important that we take time to spend time with God alone. These intimate moments with God helps us to build a stronger relationship and connection with knowing God better.

A Decade of Christian Rhythm and Blues

Each one of these songs brings God’s people back to the knowledge of His presence and hand over their lives. There’s a rich presence and beauty of singing praises to our God in a beautiful melody.
