This Boy Shocked Kidnappers When He Did THIS. And His Secret Made This Even More Surprising!

Every Praise!

Although this story took place almost a year ago, people are still talking about it.

10-year-old Willie Myrick, from Atlanta, Georgia, was kidnapped in March 2014 from his front yard. His kidnappers lured him into their car promising money but the kidnappers are the ones who got tricked. Read on for this amazing twist and see how big our God is that we and Willie serve!

The kidnappers took Willie for a 3-hour journey leading nowhere. During the ride, Willie repeatedly sang a popular gospel song, “Every Praise” by Hezekiah Walker. Here are some of the lyrics he repeated:

Every praise is to our God.

Every word of worship with one accord

Every praise, every praise is to our God.

Sing hallelujah to our God

Glory hallelujah is due our God

Every praise, every praise is to our God.

His captors got extremely frustrated and kept cursing at the boy, telling him to stop singing, but Willie ignored them and continued to sing for three hours straight.

Exasperated, the kidnappers let Willie out of the car unharmed in the East Point area of Atlanta. Overjoyed to be free, he then ran to his godmother Codetta’s house, as she lived nearby.

Willie said “If you praise the Lord he will help you in mysterious ways.”

And although Willie was raised by atheist parents, his godmother frequently took Willie to church where his passion for God was born and grew strong.

“Faith is important to this house and believing in God is important… I said, ‘In this house we go to church.’ He knows God. He knows Jesus,” Codetta said.

Well, as you can guess, this story spread across the nation and the singer Hezekiah Walker was touched. When he heard the news, Walker traveled from New York to Atlanta to meet Willie himself.

“It’s just emotional to me because you never know who you’re going to touch…I just wanted to hug him and tell him I love him…I really believe that God spoke through me (and my music) to save this young man’s life.”

Praise God for putting this song in Willie's heart and bringing it to mind at that moment. God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good!

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
