With a Storm On the Horizon, The Photographer Seized the Moment

And that’s what happened on a special day for Trapper and MaKayla Shore. In the heart of Kansas, where the skies are as tempestuous as the love that binds them, Trapper and MaKayla found themselves in a unique setting for their nuptials. As storm clouds loomed, photographer Ashley Patton seized the moment to create a series of wedding photos that would stand out from the rest.

Trapper and MaKayla, both 18 and freshly united in marriage, had chosen a sunny day for their nuptials in Viola, Kansas. However, Mother Nature had other plans. What began as a scorching afternoon soon transformed into a dramatic display of wind, thunder, and stormy weather.

Undeterred by the impending storm, Ashley Patton saw an opportunity amidst the darkening skies. The scene was set with Trapper's brother revving his Mustang to cast a dramatic haze of headlights and smoke. Against the backdrop of brooding storm clouds, Ashley snapped photos that effortlessly captured the contrast between the couple’s radiant joy and the impending tempest.

The Photos Symbolize Their Resilience As a Military Couple

"The way that the wind blew and the way that the car was sitting behind us … the layout was perfect," Ashley remarked. "It just worked out so perfect.”

For Trapper and MaKayla, the photos are more than just a beautiful moment captured in time. They symbolize their resilience as a military couple, ready to face any storm that life may bring.

"Being a military wife, the stormy photos represent what challenges we will face as a couple, but we will have those because the day started out great, turned stormy, then cleared up and was a great night,” MaKayla said.

The photos, now global sensations, have captivated viewers worldwide with their poignant depiction of love against nature's raw power. "There's a beautiful storm in the background, and it's not raining a single drop," Ashley shared. "The uniqueness of this photo has from so many people around the world, like, ‘How is this real?’"
