Speaker Helps Teens Stop Bullies In The Strangest Way

Author and speaker Brooks Gibbs knows just how dangerous bullying can be. But he has a solution that can help kids stop bullies once and for all.

We've all heard the heartbreaking stories and seen the viral videos of just how violent and out of control bullying has gotten. When I was a kid, bullies shared a few mean words but you could always go home and be safe and out of their reaches. But in this world of apps and social media bullies can find their way right into kids' living rooms, leaving them nowhere to hide.

Author and speaker Brooks Gibbs is well-versed in the dangers posed by bullying. And thankfully, he's working hard to help teens combat this issue. He uses the idea of dominance to show the teens he talks to how to get the upper hand and snuff out the flame of a bully's candle.

During this speaking engagement, he asks a student volunteer to join him on stage to pretend to be a bully. As she starts saying hateful things he starts firing right back. And insult leads to insult and the fight quickly escalates. So he stops and then asks her to start again. But this time instead of reacting negatively to the bully he responds in kindness and positivity.

The calmer he is the harder a time she has coming up with mean things to say. And by the end, the two are laughing. Of course in a real-life situation, it wouldn't be quite this easy. But with time and persistence, this would really work! We need to share this with all of the teens in our lives in hopes that they could help end bullying in their own schools for once and for all! How cool is this?

A Prayer for Those Who Are Lonely or Isolated This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 23

This Christmas, remember how precious you are to the Creator. Remember that there is nothing you can do or say that would ever separate His presence and love from you. It’s okay to go through Christmas feeling alone and isolated, but make sure you turn to God to fill those feelings of loneliness.
