Single Dad Gave up Everything for His Son, Then God Spoke to Him in His Greatest Time of Need

As a single father, parenting his kids came first for Todd Dunston. So when one of his sons started going through some major struggles, Todd sacrificed everything to help him through it. And now, Todd shares the incredible story of how God showed up in his time of greatest need!

Todd Dundson dreamed of being a builder. He became a carpenter and started his own successful business. This video shares his story about how in the midst of his progress with work, one of his sons needed help. As a single father, parenting came first and Todd didn't hesitate to step in.

Todd left the dream-job business he had created for a while to work for someone else to be able to give more of his time to his son. In his new job, it gave him good pay, but then the money was cut in half. He kept taking side jobs, but it did not give him enough. He even had to go to a food bank at one point. Then, he missed a few months of mortgage payments.

Todd always tithed and trusted God no matter what happened. He shares how he loves to give and he had confidence that the Lord would look out for him.

On a Sunday at church, before the offering, Todd felt the Lord encourage him that He was going to take care of him. And it didn't take long for God's providence to show up!

God Provides For Struggling Single Father

Right when Todd got home, the phone rang. A former contractor wanted to hire him and give him a cash advance. The advance enabled the single father who was focused on parenting to pay off his bills. Todd now looks back and sees how his sacrifice impacted his son and helped him get back on his feet.

God asks us to trust Him with our finances. He owns everything. It can be easy to hold back our giving out of fear or control. However, we can surrender to Him and give towards the church and His kingdom knowing that He will take care of us. We can do so with cheerful hearts.

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
