Kylie Frey, a 28-year-old woman from Opelousas, Louisiana, aspires to be a musician and hopes to follow in the footsteps of another country music superstar: Reba McEntire.
During her audition on America’s Got Talent, Kylie, while barefoot, explained to the judges how she got her start singing the national anthem at rodeos. She also added that she sings at all the rodeos she attends because of advice her grandfather gave her.
“So, I wrote this song for my grandpa,” she confessed. “He always told me that if I sang the national anthem for every rodeo that I showed up to, that one day, someone would ask me to sing the national anthem at the NFR. Which is the Super Bowl of rodeo, and that’s how I was going to get my start. Because that’s how Reba did.”
