Quarantine In Italy Prompts Beautiful Moment As Residents Break Into Song From Their Balconies

After the quarantine in Italy over the coronavirus, about 300 people stepped out onto their balconies to sing the Italian national anthem together after a man named Felice Bologna started playing his keyboard. What a beautiful moment in the midst of so much anxiety!

With the unprecedented nature and threat of the novel coronavirus, COVID-19, many countries have imposed quarantines. The hope is to help slow the infection rate through "social distancing".

But in an effort to bring hope to those around them, residents in Bari, Italy came out onto their balconies to sing together during the quarantine in Italy.

The song that the people in this video are singing is the Italian national anthem called ‘Il Canto degli Italiani’. A 20-year-old student named Goffredo Mameli wrote it in 1847. And the theme throughout the lyrics is unity.

How appropriate since this is what we see happening in this video!

A teacher and musician named Felice Bologna started playing this song on his keyboard. And what happened next was incredible.

Over 300 people in the surrounding buildings stepped out onto their balconies to sing it together. And many of them recorded the song on their phones while they were in awe of what was happening.

“It was an amazing moment,” said Felice.

Use his gift of music during this time to bring people together during this quarantine in Italy must feel incredible.

The way that the music and voices fill the air in this moment is so beautiful. And many other videos have come out of Italy of people doing the same thing, using music to bring people together, despite distance. It is incredibly inspiring and is filling the world with hope.

During times of stress and illness, like the quarantine happening in Italy and around the world, being deprived of social connections can make people feel even worse. And such radical changes to everyday life can come with consequences to people’s mental health and immune system.
