“I’ve always had a crush on her,” Preston explained. However, he always felt like Tanesha was out of his league.
In 2020, Preston finally worked up the courage to try moving their relationship from friendship to something more. And to his delight, the couple wound up engaged by the end of the year.
With their nuptials right around the corner, the couple never could have expected the intense difficulties they would have to navigate before saying, "I do." Just 22 days before their wedding, a chemical spill at work severely injured and maimed Preston Cobb.

Preston lost his left leg and his right leg was burned to the knee. He lost all of his toes on his right foot and all fingers on both hands except the thumbs. Additionally, he suffered burns on both hands and arms, as well as lost a piece of his ear.
"I knew it was going to be a very long road for recovery," Preston said. "This is not how I imagined us spending the rest of our lives together."
The accident would forever change not just how Preston Cobb looked, but also how he'd live his life. So, he gave Tanesha permission to call off the wedding.
“I wouldn’t blame her,” he said of the option to back out of their relationship.
For better or worse, in sickness and in health. Tanesha Oglesby lived out these vows even before speaking them at the altar. Her response shocked Preston, but it also meant the world to him!
“She looked at me like I was crazy,” he recalled.

“I was just thankful that he was still alive,” Tanesha explained. “It doesn’t change the person he is inside. It doesn’t change the love that he shows me every single day.”
Not only did Tanesha refuse to back out of the wedding, medical staff rallied together so the couple could keep their original wedding date. The two exchanged their vows in the hospital and officially became man and wife.
"That day showed me that true love never fails, it will always come through," Preston said.
To date, Preston Cobb has had 40 different surgeries. But Tanesha has remained by her beloved's side every step of the way. And it's made all the difference.
“She makes life worth living,” Preston says. “God knew what he was doing when he put us together. Thank you, God. You have literally placed an angel to take care of me and be with me.”
The couple plans to renew their vows in a ceremony that includes their friends and family come their first wedding anniversary. And after all they've already endured, Tanesha and Preston Cobb have no doubt their marriage will stand the test of time.
