Crash Survivor Agnes Kim Says Prayers Are Working

Agnes Kim has made incredible progress in healing from the car crash that killed four University of Georgia (UGA) students and seriously injured Agnes herself. But the crash did far more than just physical damage. As the driver, crash survivor Agnes Kim has been working just as hard to overcome the burden of guilt and shame. And she credits all of her amazing progress to a steady stream of prayers!

A Tragic Accident

Just days before graduation, Agnes was driving back to the UGA campus with four fellow students when her vehicle hit another head-on. Nearby witnesses say the impact was so loud it sounded like a stick of dynamite going off.

The crash critically injured Agnes. But sadly, it killed all four of her friends. The driver from the other vehicle was also injured, but not seriously.

The tragedy rocked the UGA community. They deeply mourned the loss of four young women: Christina Semeria, Halle Scott, Kayla Canedo and Brittany Feldman. The community prayed vigilantly for crash survivor Agnes Kim, who was in a coma, still fighting for her life.

But it's not just her physical wounds prayer is helping heal. Losing her four friends so violently and unexpectedly has left her battling guilt, too.

“I’m still working on my swallowing and my balance, and not blaming myself for the girls who didn’t make it in my accident,” she said.

And she credits prayer with her impressive progress.

“I think your prayers are working because I’m now on my way to getting back to my normal,” Agnes said.

Difficult times like these will test even the strongest faith. But the power of pray keeps Agnes moving forward.

She says she's "being motivated by (A) God (B) the girls and (C) my family." And though crash survivor Agnes Kim still has a long way to go, her faith and perseverance is an inspiration to all those around her.

Agnes hopes her continued healing will eventually free her from her wheelchair. And she's already making plans to help others. She'll be participating as a model in the “Project Rollway” fundraiser to raise money for adolescent rehabilitation programs. She hopes to one day return to college in order to pursue her dream of becoming a physical therapist.

Though the journey has been anything but easy, Agnes' perseverance and unshakeable faith is truly inspiring.

“God put me in this situation to show me how much I am loved,” she says.
