God Helps Police Officer Save A Choking Baby

A 2-month-old baby girl now has a very special godfather -- the police officer who saved her life. And the officer, Kenneth Knox, gives God all the credit for his rescue of the choking baby! Credit: Facebook / Kenneth Knox

A Parent's Worst Fear

All seemed well when Meona Parham fed her baby, Ma'Yavi, some infant cereal. But just an hour later, the little girl was choking to death.
“All of a sudden she started gasping for air and white stuff was coming out of her nose and mouth,” Meona said.

Choking Baby: Divine Intervention

When Kenneth arrived at the scene, he says the choking baby was "turning blue and fading fast." Terrified, he tried swabbing her throat with his finger, but wasn't able to get anything. But blowing just one puff of air in her mouth revealed that something was definitely blocking her airways. It was a tense moment, and, at first, Kenneth had no idea what to do. But then God took over!
"The Lord Almighty touched me and I knew what to do," he said.
In that panicked moment of life and death, Kenneth suddenly felt something telling him to try sucking air out of the girl's mouth instead of breathing it in. Kenneth calls the act "reverse CPR," but it's not anything he's ever been taught. It's not an official lifesaving technique nor is it something he's ever heard of before. And that's why he's so sure it was God's divine intervention that prompted him to try it! RELATED: Photo of a police officer snuggling an abandoned toddler

Reverse CPR Works

As Kenneth put his mouth over Ma'Yavi's and sucked, a miracle took place. The cereal lodged in her throat shot out! Kenneth gave the choking baby one more little breath. And he'll never forget what happened nest.
"For a brief second she smiled at me," he said. "Which...I don't know if I'm intelligent enough to put into what that done {sic} to me."
After that magical smile, Ma'Yavi started crying, which told Kenneth and her family this little angel was going to be just fine! RELATED: Police officer has a tea party with a little girl he saved 1 year prior

A Moment To Remember

The incredible moment impacted Kenneth so much, he wrote about it on Facebook.
"Out of my 25 years being a cop this is my greatest and most profound accomplishment and it made every second of those 25 years worth it all. I am forever humbled and changed by this. Little Miss Parham will forever be a part of my life..."
Kenneth had already made up his mind that he was going to stay involved in Ma'Yavi's life. But the special bond he felt with this "little princess" wasn't one sided. God definitely brought these two together for a reason! [rsnippet id="2"] The grateful family honored this hero by asking him to be Ma'Yavi's godfather. And in case you hadn't already guessed it, Kenneth didn't hesitate to accept!
