Police Can't Stop Laughing After Investigating Reports of 'Screams' from Concerned Neighbor

Police in one English town responded to a house for a report of hearing someone screaming for help, but what they found was not what they expected and had everyone laughing.

Law enforcement can be a dangerous, brutal and unforgiving field. Officers, on a regular basis, can experience some of the worst elements that society has to offer. Officers are generally some of the first people on the scene after things go horribly wrong. But what officers found when they responded to one location resulted in uncontrollable laughter.

On July 4, someone reached out to the Essex police. They stated that they had heard what they believed to be the “sound of a female’s screams” coming from a nearby house, according to Sky News Australia.

Given the troubling nature of the initial report, officers went out to investigate. Their investigation took them to the home of 54-year-old Steve Wood, a retired police officer. However, as the two officers approached the house, they quickly determined the source of the “screams.”

Steve’s birds were the culprits!

Video of two officers standing outside the house shows the two uniformed gentlemen laughing at their innocent discovery.

Steve, a long-time bird owner, currently has 22 parrots,  according to Inspire More. But as the investigation continued, it zeroed in on one bird in particular.

Freddie, a talkative parrot, is thought to have been the reason for the distressed call to the police.

Nevertheless, Steve admits that he was more than a little concerned after he first spotted three police cars pull up to his house.

"I thought, 'Oh my God, what have I done?'," Steve told the BBC.

After stepping outside, Steve's anxiety and worries subsided considerably.

"I opened the door to two laughing police officers, and they said, 'Don't worry, mate. I think we've got this one sussed.'”

The video shows Steve and the officers sharing a laugh.

“I’m sorry, mate, this is brilliant,” Steve says to the laughing officers. “Oh, this has made, this has made my year. Thank you very much, chaps.”

Despite the confusion and the visit from the police, Steve harbors no ill will toward the officers or the individual who made the call.

"Police have done the right thing, and the caller has done the right thing - there is no bad feelings on my part," Steve said to the BBC.
