Pilot Asks Passengers To Pray As Plane Engine Threatens To Fail

Pilot Asked Passengers To Pray During Rough Flight

Passengers on an AirAsia flight from Perth, Australia heading to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia recently experienced a terrifying situation. When the plane's engine started failing, things got so intense the pilot asked passengers to pray. godupdates pilot asked passengers to pray during plane engine failure fb Credit: ©Thinkstock/MatusDuda The first hour of the AirAsia flight was business as usual. But about 75 minutes into the six-hour flight, the plane began experiencing engine failure. [rsnippet id="3" name="Article-Ad"] Standard turbulence can be pretty unnerving all by itself. But this was a whole other level of scary. The plane began shaking violently as the engine seized up. Passengers described the ride as being like “a washing machine.” A "huge bang" only added to the terror. The pilot manning the flight had 44 years of experience under his belt. Even so, the dire situation had the seasoned pro just as scared as the passengers. There was only one thing left to do. The pilot asked passengers to pray! He also asked passengers to “keep an eye on” the engine by looking out their windows, since the pilot did not have a good view of it from the cockpit. One person on the flight used their phone to video tape the harrowing conditions, sharing it later on Instagram.

"I thought I might die..... Today was my beginning the trip, but I backed to the Perth due to technical issue.... Anyway I still arrive!!! Thank you God!!!" the passenger posted along with the video.
After making it safely back to Perth, AirAsia says "passengers were attended by our ground staff upon landing and were provided with all necessary assistance." [rsnippet id="2" name="ArticleAd-300x250-3"] Some have criticized the pilot's invitation to prayer. But thankfully, his boss is backing him up, calling him a hero.

"AirAsia don’t [sic] make engines and all airlines have engine failures. But when it does happen it takes great pilots and great leadership in times of crisis. I’m beaming with pride," he wrote on Facebook. "From videos you can see all guests calm, and from the many emails and whatsapp I got, the Captain’s announcements kept everyone calm."

Authorities are still investigating the cause behind the engine failure. Meanwhile, we're praising God for bringing everyone through it safely! "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us: And if we know that he hear us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him." 1 John 5:14-15 h/t: Christian Headlines YOU MAY ALSO LIKE: Tim Tebow Prays With Passengers For A Sick Man On A Delta Flight godupdates tim tebow prays on plane during medical emergency fb Credit: ©Thinkstock/kotina / Facebook

A Prayer for Those Who Are Lonely or Isolated This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 23

This Christmas, remember how precious you are to the Creator. Remember that there is nothing you can do or say that would ever separate His presence and love from you. It’s okay to go through Christmas feeling alone and isolated, but make sure you turn to God to fill those feelings of loneliness.
