School Shooting Survivors' Surprise Performance at Tony Awards

When gunfire erupted at the Parkland, Florida high school, one teacher acted quickly--shielding students and saving 65 lives. theater teacher, Melody Herzfeld quickly ran to the door to her classroom and started rushing students inside! Now, these Parkland shooting survivors perform at Tony awards to honor and surprise their brave teacher!

"I was just literally at the door just saying, 'Come on, come on, come on, move, move, move,' Melody said. For her bravery, Melody was recognized at the Tony Awards in New York.

When asked why this recognition was important, Melody shared, "To our community, it's a sense of hope, it's a sense of happiness, and pride and joy to recognize that these people here that live here, and these students that go to this school, they're not just given everything, they work really hard for what they have, and to be recognized by such a special organization that doesn't just give stuff away, it's very meaningful to the whole community here."

Melody's students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School made a surprise appearance at the Tony Awards Ceremony. The students and audience were all very emotional as the singers performed "Seasons of Love."

One student had a solo performance in the middle that really showed off her talents but also ramped up the emotions, leaving the audience in awe!

The lyrics to the song were also very appropriate for this group of students who've shown that you're never too young to take a stand for what's important! This is just one more way the Parkland students continue to impress us!

What a beautiful way to honor this brave teacher and the victims of the senseless crime. Who else could feel the tears welling up listening to this one?
