Palm Sunday Hymns and Worships Songs

Why Celebrate Palm Sunday?

Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem as King on the Jewish holiday of Passover.

Jesus rode a young donkey into the Jerusalem and was greeted by a large crowd with palm branches and people shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord,” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” and other words of praise (Matthew 21:9).

On Palm Sunday, Christian churches often give the congregation palm branches to re-create the celebration of Jesus' final arrival in Jerusalem as his followers used palm branches to honor him as King and Messiah.

King Of My Heart

Let the King of my heart
Be the mountain where I run
The fountain I drink from
Oh, He is my song

Blessed Assurance

This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long;
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone, Who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save.

Lift Every Voice And Sing

Lift every voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of liberty;

Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.

All Creatures Of Our God And King

All creatures of our God and King,
lift up your voice and with us sing
Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou burning sun with golden beam,
thou silver moon with softer gleam,
O praise Him, O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

5 Bible Verses for Palm Sunday

"Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey." ~ Zechariah 9:9

"Most of the crowd spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, “Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” And when he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?” And the crowds said, “This is the prophet Jesus, from Nazareth of Galilee." ~ Matthew 21:8-11

"Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!" His disciples did not understand these things at first, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things had been written about him and had been done to him. The crowd that had been with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to bear witness. The reason why the crowd went to meet him was that they heard he had done this sign. So the Pharisees said to one another, "You see that you are gaining nothing. Look, the world has gone after him." ~ John 12:15-19

"Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish." ~ Psalm 1

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him." ~ John 3:16-17
