When they needed to evacuate, they only had 5 minutes to gather their belongings and animals.Frantically they went to try to load up their goats and their two goat herding dogs.By the time they got to the goats they knew there was no time to connect the trailer and save them all. So Roland tried to load up their two dogs.

He got one of the dogs into the car, but that's when their second dog, Odin, herded up the goats determined to stay. Odin refused to get in the family car and looked at Roland as if to say 'I've got this'. So they tearfully had to leave them to escape the fires. They all but knew that they would lose their goats and Odin in the fire. So they braced themselves when it was finally safe to return.

As they pulled up they saw that their house had been burned to the ground. But as Roland looked out into the field he saw tiny black and white dots. As they got closer they were stunned to see that Odin was still alive and protecting the goats. Survival had clearly taken its toll on Odin but the fact that he and the goats were alive is a miracle! Now, this amazing animal is getting the thanks he deserves. This is so incredible!
