Some situations are so bleak it becomes hard to find the good. Such is the case with a startling discovery made by paramedics. They found a newborn baby abandoned by her mother at a Pennsylvania gas station. But as horrible as it is, we're praising God that this precious angel was found safe and sound!
A young woman in her twenties was traveling with her family when she started feeling sick. She requested they pull over and the family stopped off at a gas station.
The woman went into the bathroom where she delivered her baby girl. And for reasons unknown, she then put the newborn into the trash can.
The paramedics were called to treat the mother, who tried telling them that she'd had a miscarriage. But they kept searching and later found the newborn baby abandoned in the bathroom trash can.

It's terrifying to think what could have happened if the baby girl, who was nearly full term, had not been found when she was. But thankfully, paramedics found her, took her to the hospital and she's doing just fine. We pray God will put her in the hands of a loving family who will truly appreciate her life for the blessing it is.
It's hard to imagine why a mother would do such a thing. It especially upset Valerie Hamer, who manages the restaurant across the street from the gas station.
"It’s awful,” Valerie said. “She could have given that baby up for adoption, or there’s so many other ways than to dispose of it in a garbage can. Thank goodness [she's] alive.” Safe Haven Laws
Safe haven laws to protect a mother in crisis are present in all 50 states. However, babies are to be surrendered in a safe environment. For example, Indiana has installed safe haven baby boxes -- climate controlled boxes where the babies will be safe. Once an infant is placed inside, it alerts authorities so they can come to the baby's aide.
In this situation, the District Attorney's office is reviewing the case, and it will be up to them to decide whether or not to press charges against the woman who abandoned this baby.

We pray the newborn's mother will one day have a change of heart, and will find healing through our Lord and Savior. And we praise God for keeping this precious baby safe!
