No matter your age, profession, level of education or stage in life, everyone can always use a friend. One mother intent on paying for a friend for her son received an unexpected and overwhelming response.
Donna Herter, a woman in the Midwest, turned to Facebook to find a friend for her son, 24-year-old Christian Bowers.

Donna’s heartbreaking Facebook post explains that she was seeking “a young man, between the ages of 20-28” to spend “two days a month for two hours” with her son Christian playing video games. Christian, Donna’s post mentions, has Down’s syndrome. For two hours, Donna was willing to pay this person $80.
Well, Donna’s post quickly went viral, KMOV reports. The post has been shared almost 60,000 times.
People quickly began reaching out to Donna and Christian’s social calendar is all booked up for the next couple of months, according to KMOV. The people, the station reports, who responded to Donna do not seek any payment in return.
“I still have people messaging, and I’m adding more dates and I just can’t stop smiling and it’s not even for me, it’s for him,” she said. “He has not been this happy in years, this is the happiest I’ve seen him in years.”
People from St. Louis and across the world have reached out to Donna, looking to spend time with Christian. Some messages have come people in Australia and England.
Recently, a couple of individuals from a St. Louis Youth nonprofit spent time with Christian playing video games. In addition to spending time with Christian, they also brought along some goodies for the video game enthusiast, including a new flat-screen TV, snacks and even tickets to watch the St. Louis Blues play, according to SunnySkyz.
