Mom Has A Seizure While Driving, And Brave 11-Year-Old Twin Boys Jump Into Action

An Ohio mom has a seizure while she's driving the car. So, a pair of twin brothers worked together to get the vehicle off the highway and to safety. What brave boys!

Jermel and Jordan Taylor may very well prove that the power of two is even bigger when the two are a couple of 11-year-old twins that share a lot of love for their mom!

The boys, along with their mother, Crystal Thompson, were headed to their grandmother’s house one morning when Crystal, an epileptic, experienced a seizure. She was driving the family’s SUV near State Routes 21 South and 30 East in Massillon, Ohio, when Jordan noticed something wasn’t right.

Twin Brothers Jump Into Action As Mom Has A Seizure

Jordan, behind his mother in the car, observed Crystal start to have a seizure. He alerted his brother, Jermel, who was sitting next to his mother in the front passenger seat. Jermel quickly took the wheel. His mother’s hands had fallen from the steering wheel, and her body was leaning against the window. How terrifying for the boys!

Thankfully, Crystal’s foot was still partially on the brake, but the boys handled the rest. Jermel grabbed the steering wheel as his mom has a seizure. And with direction from Jordan in the back, he guided the car into the grassy area along the highway. The car eventually came to a stop, and Jordan called 911. The two worked as a team to survive a situation that might have been deadly for them, as well as others on the road that day!

Jermel told CBS affiliate WTRF-TV, “While she was having the seizure, I thought to myself, ‘Let’s not injure all the people on the road in the cars, and let’s try to keep everybody safe.’” The twins did indeed keep everybody safe.

Quick-Thinking Teens Hailed As Heroes

Crystal, hospitalized after the incident but doing fine, is extremely grateful for her sons’ heroic and quick-thinking actions. She gave credit, too, to a couple of others who provided experiences for Jordan and Jermel to draw upon in the crisis.

Crystal shared with WEWS-TV, "I will say I'm very much thankful for my fiancé who taught them how to drive a tractor, and my dad has taught them how to ride Go-Karts, so that's always a plus."

It’s not just Mom that’s proud of these young men. Massillon Mayor Kathy Catazaro-Perry and Sergeant Audry Aiello recognized Jermel and Jordan for their bravery. Sergeant Aiello stated to WTRF-TV, “Their brave actions are honorable, and we just want them to know that we appreciate everything that they have done for themselves, their mother, and for the community.”

A Prayer for Transforming Worry into Trust - Your Daily Prayer - October 24

Worrying does nothing to benefit our lives in any way; it only takes away. It takes away the present moments and present joy you could experience, not to mention it takes away from a peaceful life.
