Garbage Man Sees A Distressed Stranger On The Side Of The Road And Stops To Hug Her

A kind garbage man named Mike Nance stopped on his route to show kindness to a stranger in need, and his actions created a domino effect in his community.

Dave Kuban and Carlos Gonzales own a deli in their town. One morning, they looked out their window to see a garbage man stop his work to walk over to a young woman on the side of the road.

"We just saw him hugging her for, I don't know, I want to say five minutes if that. But it was a real hug," said Carlos.

The deli owners also saw the man give the woman money, and Dave took a few pictures of the encounter to share about the good deed that he had seen on a community Facebook page.

"That's just Dave being Dave,” said Carlos. “He sees something nice, and he just wants to show appreciation."

The post on social media led to the deli owners finding out who the kind garbage man was – Mike Nance. And he shared about why he had the desire to help out the woman in need.

"Anytime you see somebody walking around with everything that they own, talking to themselves—I don't know. It just took over me," Mike explained.

Mike Nance, A Kind Garbage Man, Stops To Hug Struggling Stranger

After talking to the woman, Mike gave her some money, but also wanted to do something more for her.

"So I hugged her. I said a prayer, and that was it," he shared.

But Mike does not know how to react to the attention that he is getting now for his act of kindness. "I'm a garbage man. We're about the community. I'm about the community. So whatever I can do to help, that's what I'm going to do," he said. "I try to be the best person I can be every day.”

Because of Mike’s kindness, Dave Kuban and Carlos Gonzales were also inspired to bless the struggling woman.

"After we saw him do that, we made her a little breakfast and brought it over to her. It's a domino effect," Carlos said.
