To most people, Michael Jordan is the greatest to have ever played the game of basketball. He won six NBA championships and five NBA MVP awards. He also set countless records during his playing career. Recently, years after his playing career ended, Michael set another record!
Michael, during his playing career with the Chicago Bulls and later with the Washington Wizards, wowed legions of fans. He could do anything on the court – play tough defense, put up points and make the big play at the right moment.

Instead of lighting up the scoreboard, Michael donated a huge sum of money to one prominent nonprofit organization. Michael used his recent 60th birthday as an occasion to give a record $10 million to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, according to GoodNewsNetwork.
Michael’s generous donation, Make-A-Wish states on their website, is the “largest from an individual in the organization’s 43-year history.”
Michael’s massive gift isn’t the first kind act he’s done for Make-A-Wish, the organization mentions. Michael has been involved since the late 1980s, granting wishes to children.
Michael is inspired and has been touched by the children the organization serves, according to Make-A-Wish’s website
“Witnessing their strength and resilience during such a tough time in their lives has truly been an inspiration,” Michael said. “I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true.”
Make-A-Wish points out his gift will go toward an endowment. It will make the wishes of children the organization works with come true.

“Everyone knows about Michael’s legacy on the basketball court, but it’s what he has consistently done off the court when no one’s watching that makes him a true legend,” the Make-A-Wish president and CEO, Leslie Motter said.
What a generous and touching move from arguably the greatest basketball player ever! Michael has been blessed in life. It is great to see him helping to make the lives of sick children a little better.
