Actor Michael J. Fox would have completely understood and had even forgiven his wife of 35 years if she had decided to “step out” of their marriage following his Parkinson's diagnosis but she has remained committed to those vows “in sickness and in health.”
Marriage is a big, life-changing commitment. No one can see the future or know what’s coming down the road. Life is a series of ups and downs, but marriage is a vow between two people to stay together through everything. Tracy Pollan, Michael J. Fox’s wife, has displayed this type of unwavering love and commitment.

At the young age of 29 years old, Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Now, at 62 years old, the “Back to the Future” star has lived with and battled the disease for more than 30 years. But he’s not been alone in his battle against the disease. His family has been with him every step of the way, including his wife of 35 years, Tracy Pollan, according to People.
In an interview with CBS, the “Family Ties” star mentioned how much his love and support of his wife has meant to him over the years.

“I love Tracy, obviously,” Michael said. “And she’s an amazing person, and has gone through a lot.”
Later in the interview, Michael mentioned that he would have understood that if, following his life-changing diagnosis, she would have left. He states that he would have even forgiven her for doing it.
"We knew the bus was coming and we knew it was going to hit, but we didn't know how far away it was or how fast it was going,” he said. "At any time she would have been forgiven to say, 'I'm just gonna step out.' But, she didn't do that.”
Instead, Michael J Fox says his wife, Tracy, indicated from the beginning that when she made those vows, she meant them.
“I had no idea what to expect, and neither did she,” Michael said. “But she, she had indicated to me by saying ‘for better or for worse, in sickness and in health’ that she was going to hang on and get me through it. And go through it with me, and she has for 35 years.”
Michael and Tracy’s marriage is a beautiful example of the type of love and commitment God likely had in mind when he created the institution of marriage.
