A mom was put into a medically induced coma as she struggled to survive Coronavirus. She woke up to find she was no longer pregnant with twins.
Pregnancy is supposed to be a time of abundant joy--indulging in food cravings, and ‘nesting’ in anticipation of baby’s arrival. But Perpetual Uke’s experience took a turn for the worst when she fell extremely ill.

Her life and her twins were in danger. Perpetual said she had not been sure her children “would make it" after she contracted coronavirus and fell ill in late March. In fact, the mom was put into a medically induced coma only to wake up weeks later to find she was longer carrying her twins.
She was taken to the hospital and ended up on a ventilator. A week later, Perpetual woke up and looked down at her body only to realize, she no longer had her baby bump. She couldn’t feel her babies move inside of her either. She felt panic rise within her because she thought in that instant, her babies had not made it.
But God’s hand was upon her and her family. Uke awoke, stunned to learn that she had already given birth. She was shocked to discover she’d given birth to her newborns while in the hospital. Her twins, a boy and a girl, Pascal and Palmer were born via C-section at 26 weeks, and were placed in incubators in the NICU.
“It was really terrifying,” her husband Matthew said. “Every passing day, I was hoping my wife was not among those who are dead. … We are a team, [and] the idea she might not be there was really difficult to accept.”
Palmer, a girl, and Pascal, a boy, weighed only 1 lb 11 oz and 1 lb 14 oz. When Perpetual saw them for the first time, she was in shock of how tiny they were. “They were so tiny. They didn’t look like my older kids. I couldn’t touch them, I felt so emotional,” she said.
“Sometimes I look at them in tears. I never knew they would make it. It is amazing what medical professional science can offer,” she added.
It took 116 days for the twins to grow strong enough to be discharged from the hospital. Perpetual said, she never wanted her twins to go down this difficult path of being born so early because she was sick. She felt terrible they couldn’t see her for two weeks because she was still in a coma. But they have grown and progressed into healthy, thriving babies.
The new family of six are happy, healthy, and thriving thanks to our mighty God!
