It took over 7 years for Mark Lowry, the songwriter, to perfect the lyrics to this song. The idea came to Lowry when he was writing a Christmas program for Jerry Falwell.

Mark started thinking about what he would ask Mary if she was sitting right in front of him. He wondered how she must have felt when the angel told her she would birth a child of God. Then, he put together the questions that eventually became the lyrics we all know and love today.
‘Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God’

Home Free is an American a cappella group that competed and won in the fourth season of The Sing-Off on NBC in 2013.

The current members consist of are Austin Brown, Rob Lundquist, Adam Rupp, Tim Foust, and Adam Chance. They’ve become viral sensations with their covers of hit songs such as ‘Ring Of Fire’ and ‘How Great Thou Art.’
