Stranger Helps A Mom Who's Flying Alone With A Simple Act Of Kindness

Stranger's Kindness For The Mom Flying Alone

Most moms realize no one enjoys the sound of a crying baby. . . especially on a plane. That's why a pregnant mom flying alone became anxious when her 20-month-old son became "that kid" mid-flight. But to her surprise, the man next to her didn't get angry or annoyed. Instead, he offered to help! godupdates stranger on plane helps mom flying alone with crying baby fb Credit: Facebook / Andrea Byrd

Just What She'd Feared

Monica was already nervous about traveling without her husband. So, the pregnant mom flying alone hoped for the best as she boarded the plane with her 20-month-old son, Luke. But then he started fussing mid-flight, just as she'd feared all along. But our awesome God had seated Monica next to just the right person. And what happened next not only blessed Monica, but the entire plane as well! [rsnippet id="3" name="Article-Ad"]

A Pleasant Surprise

To Monica's surprise, the man sitting next to her didn't get irritated, as you might expect. He offered to hold Luke so that she could get some rest, explaining that he was a dad himself. He spent the rest of the flight walking the aisle with the crying baby, until the boy eventually calmed and fell asleep. "It was such a relief because I was a little worried traveling with him without my husband there to help out," Monica said. "I'm still very grateful — he was so kind."

Kindness Inspires Others

But she wasn't the only one. The man's compassion for the mom flying alone was so unexpected it touched the other passengers, too. In fact, a woman named Andrea was moved to tears. She snapped a photo of the moment and shared it on Facebook, where the story has gone viral.
"He just kind of swooped in," she recalled. "You usually don't see things like that. It was so sweet."

Let Your Light Shine

It's such a simple act, when you stop and think about it. The man saw someone who needed help, so he helped. Yet, how often is that the response towards a mom struggling to calm a crying baby? Especially on a plane.
"It's good to know the world is not all bad," Monica said. "There are some really great people out there."

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16
And what a great example for us all! Sometimes, when we see a stranger struggling, we think it's best to just stay out of it. But we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. And God calls us to lift one another up, just as this stranger on a plane did for Monica. Who can you help today? "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2 [rsnippet id="2" name="ArticleAd-300x250-3"]

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
