Croc Picks the Wrong Target In Australian Cattle Farmer - This Man Bites the Crocodile Back

An Australian man came face-to-face with a crocodile and performed an unconventional but ultimately life-saving maneuver in order to survive an attack.

Animals are wonderful, magnificent and awe-inspiring beings. Like humans, they were placed on Earth by the same God who hung the sun, moon and stars in place. They are all part of the Lord’s creation. But there are some animals that it’s best to avoid having any interactions with altogether.

The top of that list of animals to stay away from are crocodiles. They are massive and ferocious beings known for swiftly and quietly moving upon their prey before surprising them with a deadly attack. After a crocodile latches down on its capture, the chances of survival are slim to none.

But Colin Deveraux, a cattle producer, was one of the few who has been able to walk away following an encounter with a crocodile. He freed himself from the clutches of the green, scaly being by turning the tables on the animal. He bit it back, according to People.

Colin was out working on a fence near a body of water when he noticed something odd. He saw that the water had receded significantly and that “dirty water was in the middle.”

After two steps toward the water, a crocodile had latched itself on Colin’s right foot, according to the outlet. Colin remembers being thrown around by the beast as if he were a children’s toy.

"It was a big grab, and he shook me like a rag doll and took off back into the water, pulling me in," Colin said.

But Colin was determined not to go down without putting up a fight first. He launched a counter-offensive, which involved using his teeth on the crocodile.

"I was in such an awkward position… but by accident, my teeth caught his eyelid,” he said, according to the BBC. “It was pretty thick, like holding onto leather, but I jerked back on his eyelid, and he let go.”

Colin started scrambling to get away from the beast. The animal wasn’t giving up that easily, not yet anyway.

"He chased me for a bit, maybe [13 feet], but then stopped," Colin said.

Colin had sustained a substantial wound on his right leg but was able to fashion a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. He was rushed to a hospital for care.

The Australian understands that he is lucky to have survived that attack, and understands changes are in order.

"It means I've got to change what I do,” he said. “I've been walking around that swamp country too long fixing fences and living life, but it's opened my eyes."
