12-year-old Magnolia Woodhead survives a Coca Beach, Florida shark attack, and her story is incredible.

While Magnolia received 50 stitches due to over 100 puncture wounds, it’s a miracle she survived at all. Because of the numerous puncture wounds, medical staff believe she was bitten twice. And now she’s sharing her inspiring story with others. Very few people walk away from shark attacks. Magnolia knows God was on her side as she fought off the shark in the water.

Brave Teen Gymnast Magnolia Woodhead Survives Shark Attack

The Philadelphia pre-teen had come to Florida to compete in a gymnastics competition, and her family decided to enjoy a day at the beach before the big event. She decided to enjoy a swim in the ocean when the unthinkable happened. A shark clamped down on her leg and pulled her under the water. But God’s hand of protection was upon her. She managed to get away from the shark and swim on shore.

Right when she got out of the water, Magnolia began screaming for help because she knew it wasn’t a good situation. Her dad swooped her into his arms, and they rushed to the hospital. While she thanked God she was alive. Her next thought was about her gymnastics competition. She knew she wouldn’t get to compete, and she was devastated. But God blessed her with a fighter’s spirit and the ability to see the positives despite the tragedy.

Teen Gymnast Supports Teammates After Shark Attack

Instead of going home, Magnolia went to the competition to support her friends and teammates. She knew they had dedicated hours of their time and worked hard to make it to the competition. "I was just there because I really wanted to support my teammates because I know they've worked so hard on this contest and stuff,” she said.

Although she can’t compete this year, she looks forward to next year. She is sharing her story to remind others to be watchful for sharks. When most people go to the beach, their biggest concern is sunburn. She hopes her story will help save others.

Thank God Magolia can still smile and tell her story. God blessed Magnolia with wisdom and a positive outlook on life, even in unthinkable circumstances. Listening to Magnolia share her story will leave you in awe and help promote awareness of potential dangers in the water for other beachgoers.
