Family Is In Awe After Lowe's Worker Goes Above And Beyond For Their Son With Special Needs

One Lowe's worker in Pennsylvania went beyond the call of duty to help the family of a child with special needs, leaving mom and dad moved by his act of kindness.

Life is often unpleasant and unfair, dealing some a more demanding hand than others. William Getty is one of those people who is familiar with the burdensome and trying circumstances in life. William, born prematurely at 23 weeks, has quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy, according to Fox 29.

As a result of his disability, William uses a wheelchair. However, William, along with Mark and Jessica Getty, William’s mother and father, is determined to learn how to walk. So, in order to reach their goal, they hatched a plan. The family researched the materials and the specifications needed to build William parallel bars to practice walking.

The family visited their local Lowe’s store to hunt down the PVC pipe. But those building materials weren’t the only things the family came across during their visit.

Dave Urban, an employee at the Lowe’s store, originally met the family in the aisle with the PVC piping. At first, Dave envisioned only doing a few minor things for the family, making a cut here and there. But things quickly changed, according to The Guardian.

Dave learned that the materials requested would be used to help William learn how to walk. That’s when Dave stepped up and showed the family unexpected kindness.

Instead of simply cutting the piping and sending William, Mark and Jessica on their way, Dave spent half an hour constructing the parallel bars for the Gettys, according to Fox 29.

When the time arrived for William to test the bars in the store, it was Dave who was touched.

"Then came the test,” Dave said. “Will got up, out of his wheelchair and grabbed a hold of those bars. I think you saw that courageous smile of his. Sense of pride, it keeps getting me."

Dave’s act of kindness and love, putting together the bars for William and his family, was a life-changing gift for that little boy.

The clip shows William using the bars at home, smiling and laughing as he stands and walks. It also mentions that thanks to Dave’s gift, William will be able to practice moving backward and side to side.

"It was just kindness that touched us and really meant the world to us," Jessica said.

“Put on, therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility and perseverance.”Colossians 3:12
