30 Love for God Bible Verses - Loving God With Heart and Mind

What does it mean to have a love for God? Jesus tells us "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." (John 14:15)

"You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets." (Matthew 22)

Ultimately, we make a choice as Christians in this life to fully love God and forego the allures and temptations of this world... or to love the world and the fleeting comforts and pleasures wherein.

May these Bible verses about true "Love for God" inspire you to seek the love and mercy of Christ with your whole being!

Love for God Bible Verses

John 14:15-17
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you."

1 John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

2 Peter 3:17-18
You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, take care that you are not carried away with the error of lawless people and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.

1 Peter 3:15-17
But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God's will, than for doing evil.
