A member of the Michigan State Police was unaware her family would soon be growing to include a furry, four-legged member when she responded to a call for an abandoned animal.

Animals are remarkable creatures, designed by the same God who placed the sun, moon and stars in place. Like people, they all want to be cared for and loved. Most of those furry, four-legged creatures have a way of connecting with people and finding a way into their hearts.

That’s exactly what happened when Michigan State Trooper Kayla Moore was called out for a report of an abandoned animal in mid-July, according to a social post from the Michigan State Police.

Once on the scene, Kayla located the animal who was the subject of the call, Rosie. The police officer then proceeded to put Rosie into the back of her cop car. Kayla had every intention of transporting the dog to the Antrim County Animal Shelter. She was planning to drop off the animal and let those at the shelter care for Rosie, according to The Kansas City Star.

However, as they often do, plans changed. Police state that during the car ride to the shelter, “something special happened.” Kayla and Rosie quickly bonded. Instead of simply turning the animal over to those at the shelter, Kayla decided to fill out some paperwork.
