Hugh Jackman's Health Scare Inspired Him To Caution Others

An Oscar-nominated actor used his sizable platform to speak out about his health scare and encouraged others to act in a safe and healthy manner.

The people who appear on television or the silver screen are simply that: people. Yes, they may have more fame and fatter bank accounts than the average person. However, they are like everyone else on earth in every other respect, especially in regard to getting sick or experiencing health scares.

Hugh Jackman posted a video to social media wearing a bandage on his nose. In the video, the “Wolverine” star explains that he recently underwent two biopsies, according to ABC News.

“I just went to my doctor, Dr. Irons, who’s awesome,” he said. “And she just saw little things, could be or could not be basal cell, in her opinion. She doesn’t know.”

He added that basal cell carcinoma “in the world of skin cancers, is the least dangerous of them all.” However, he also mentioned that his tests come as a result of “stuff that happened 25 years ago” and is “coming out now” and so pushed his followers to wear sunscreen.

“Please wear sunscreen,” he said. “It is just not worth it. No matter how much you want to tan, trust me, trust me, trust me.”

He later added that sunscreen will not, in any way, diminish fun in the sun.

“Put some sunscreen on,” he said. “You’ll still have an incredible time out there, all right. Please, be safe.”

A few days later, Hugh announced that he does not have skin cancer. The “Les Misérables” actor revealed that both of his biopsies “came back negative,” in an Instagram story, according to People.

Thank God his test did not reveal cancer. A possible cancer diagnosis is always frightening, regardless of the level of fame or bank account size.

The summer season is when people like to vacation, have get-togethers, lay by the pool and enjoy the great outdoors. However, as Hugh mentioned, wearing sunscreen and protecting yourself against the sun is always a good move.
