Kate McClure was driving on the interstate when the most inconvenient thing happened. She ran out of gas! She did not have roadside assistance or money, so she was stuck. That is when a homeless veteran by the name of Johnny Bobbit Jr. saw her and wanted to help.

Johnny told Katy to stay put in her car, lock the doors, and that he will be right back. She was shocked that a complete stranger, a homeless stranger at that, wanted to help her. He walked a few blocks to the nearest gas station and returned with a full gas tank to fill up her car. Apparently, he had spent his last $20 to buy her the gas. That was so selfless.

Katy told her boyfriend, Mark and he went back to the underpass where Johnny stayed. He thanked him and gave him $100 to express his gratitude. But Katy and Mark both agreed that something bigger could be done for Johnny. So, they decided to start a GoFundMe campaign for him, urging people to give back to the homeless veteran. People were so moved by their story, that in just two weeks, they raised over $360,000 in the GoFundMe campaign.

Johnny went from having lived in the street, to have enough money to buy him a home and a vehicle. He does not want to use the money to spend lavishly, instead, he is seeking wisdom on how to manage his new-found wealth. He is thankful to have been given what he calls a second chance of life.
Still so selfless, Johnny also wants to use some of the money that was raised for him to help other people in need. He plans to give money to organizations who help people get out of similar situations that he was in. His idea is to touch someone’s life, just like he was touched.
