Do you carry scissors in your car safety kit? If not, a mom from Massachusetts urges you to consider it. This heroic mom saves her son from choking after a seatbelt got tangled around his neck!

Siobhan Sherbovich must’ve had supernatural peace that surpasses all understanding in order to act as quickly and efficiently as she did when she looked in her rearview mirror to witness her son being strangled by his seatbelt.

“The actions of the mom were nothing short of heroic,” said Chief Robert Bongiorno, with the Bedford Police Department. We know the actions of Sibhan were also nothing short of miraculous.

Siobhan understandably panicked when she saw her 8-year-old son Brayden choking in the back seat while she was driving.

“We’re stopped at a red light in the middle of Bedford center, and he just said in a raspy voice, ‘Mom I can’t breathe,’" Siobhan said.

“Before I could even process anything, he was basically hanging from the ceiling, unconscious, blue as can be, there was blood coming out from the pressure, and I looked, he was gone,” she added.

She knew that every single second counted — so instead giving in to fear, she took control.

Going on instinct, Siobhan bolted into a nearby hair salon to grab a pair of scissors. One of the stylists called 911 while she ran back to her car to cut her son free.

“I get everything off his neck, he is so, so blue, and I just start performing CPR, don’t ask me when or how I remember to do that but I did it,” she said.

After cutting her son free she started performing CPR. By the time the EMT’s arrived, Brayden was finally breathing on his own again.

She hopes all parents will now carry a safety kit with scissors in their cars.

“I want parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, I want people to be prepared and have seatbelt cutters in their cars because if I had had that, probably we wouldn’t have gotten that experience,” said Sherbovich. “And other people wouldn’t have to see anybody basically hang themselves from something that is supposed to protect them.”

Thank God for miracles like Brayden and the quick thinking of his mom. Hopefully their harrowing story will save another child’s life with Siobhan’s advice.
