“She’s the person I do all these fun things with, and that’s where the idea came in, and I wanted to do something special for her,” Shannon explained.

Her vision of "colorful" led to convincing her Grandma to dye her hair blue! The results were stunning photographs, but Gladys was unsure if she truly was a fit for the blue hair!
“I came over and I showed her the dye, and we just went to work,” Weikle says. “When she saw herself, she was mortified!”
Getting "New Hair" For The Birthday Photo Shoot
Her new blue hair wasn't the only thing colorful for Glady's big day. She also was dolled up in a birthday t-shirt with "Ninety Eight" across the front and a multi-colored tutu! Her striking hair color was also complimented with bright balloons and a wildly colorful cake baked by her granddaughter."It was a little overwhelming at first," Gladys told Buzzfeed. "I thought these are just two kids and they want me to do these stupid things. I've go nothing else to do!"credit: Facebook/Cara Lynn Photography [/slide] The birthday photo shoot was the artistic masterpiece of photographer Cara Lynn McGilvrey. When McGilvrey posted the photos on her Facebook account, they unexpectedly went viral. People were so shocked by Glady's blue hair and loved the photographs. They were also excited to wish her well for her birthday! Shannon has been keeping her Grandma updated on the amount of "likes" her birthday photo shoot is receiving. While very pleased, she is shocked by the attention!
“I’ll read her the comments and she’ll just giggle and can’t believe so many people care about what she’s doing," she told the publication. "She thought people would think she had gone crazy.”
Instead the support has been overwhelming. Including many who wish their Grandma was so trusting and spirited!

Of course, with such an exciting birthday photo shoot, the bar has been set high for the next birthdays. Shannon is now trying to convince "Grams" that she should sky-dive for her 100th birthday! Either way, the duo are excited to share this special moment and hope that it gives everyone a little inspiration.
“Hopefully, this inspires people to realize they are never too old to do anything or to enjoy life.”

A little taste of icing here and there and the suggestion to grab a bite quickly led to Grams letting lose and enjoying the cake to it's fullest! There is no doubt that Shannon and her Grandma Gladys must be the dearest of friends. We hope they have many more adventures together! Glady's wisdom for life:
"I think to get through life you just have to be easy. Enjoy it! You're not going to get a second one."h/t: Honey YOU MAY ALSO LIKE: Bride Chooses Her 89-Year-Old Grandma As A Bridesmaid

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22
It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
