In this TikTok video, internet personality, Kevin Cooney, shares when he found out that his wife Ashley was shopping at Target when she gave shopping up for Lent. "Out here cheating on the lord...@Target please escort my wife," the caption says.
In the clip, we see Kevin outside Target. He says, "So my wife gave up shopping for Lent, and I think she forgot that we share locations. I see she's inside of a Target..." He then walks inside the store.
He searches a bit for her and finds her looking at pillows with a determined look. It does not appear that she was actually giving up shopping for Lent. It looks as though she is shopping for something for the living room.
When she sees Kevin, she drops everything she is holding, including the pillows, gives him a guilty look. "What are we doing?" Kevin asks, "What's...what are you?"
Ashley then asks him, "Why are you here?" Kevin asks back. "Why are you here?"
Ashley responds quickly with the perfect excuse, "I work here now." Not that Kevin believes her. You have to admit, she had a great response there.
The video ends with Ashley telling her husband, "Stop bothering me at work. I'm trying to make us more money."
The video has over 6 million views now, and many in the comments are running with her "I work here" comment.
"you have to admit " I work here now" was some awesome quick thinking!"
"The way she drops everything and says “I work here now.” She is a role model to us all!😂😂"
"I’ve been there everyday.. and she’s sooo helpful, please give her manager position"

Yes, Ashley gave up shopping for Lent, and no, she didn't stick to it, but it made for a fun interaction between her and her husband. And great entertainment for the TikTok audience.
While observing Lent is a serious thing, as humans, it isn't always easy to stick to what we plan to give up. Many can relate to not always being able to stick to the plan. However, God's grace is big enough to cover us, even when we end up in a place we aren't supposed to be.
