Grannies Overcome Fear to Take Their First Flight

An and Ria are two complete strangers who were both being held back by fear that was keeping them from reaching their dreams. But when these two flying grannies came together and supported one another, the results were not only heartwarming, they were also downright hilarious!

Have you ever let fear hold you back from doing something in your life you really wanted to do? Perhaps it's fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of the unknown, fear of change? An and Ria are two grannies in their 70s who were both held back by a fear of flying. And though there were many things they wanted to see and places they wanted to go, they let that fear hold them back from those dreams for many years.

The Bible sends a very clear message over and over to us about fear! We are told many times that fear is our enemy and that we should trust God and His plans for us.

Joshua 1:9  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

Isaiah 35:4 ... to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.

John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

When we first meet An and Ria, both ladies who are complete strangers to one another, sit in front of a very similar wall of family pictures as they share their stories with the camera. The two are an absolute hoot, and right from the beginning, the viewer can't wait to see how these two very different personalities will compliment one another once they meet! It's like watching the beginning of your favorite movie when you can't wait for the characters to finally get together!

At first, An is dead-set against ever stepping foot onto a plane, exclaiming that she would rather take a bus. But eventually, she comes around saying that she'll soon turn 72 years old and realizes that if she doesn't take this leap of faith now, she never will. An is very fearful.

Ria is more adventurous, laughing while she shares that she will definitely not cry if she is afraid. . . because she is no baby! Ria always wanted to fly, but fear held her back, too. Not her own fear, but her husband's! Ria shared that her husband was fearful of swimming, flying and many other things that she thinks she would have enjoyed.

An's husband shares a similar story, about how he'd like to travel the world, but that An is terrified and so he respects her wishes.

Next, we see Ria, the daredevil that she is, boarding a rollercoaster and laughing with sheer joy at the thrill of the adventure.

I don't want to give away anything else from this magical video, because you truly do need to watch it for yourself! When these two ladies come together to become instant friends and flying grannies, the results are simply the most heartwarming thing you'll see all day!

You just never know who God might put in your life next who will be exactly the person you needed to help you lead a better life!

A Prayer for Unity in the Church This Christmas - Your Daily Prayer - December 22

It’s easy to take offense when someone hurts you, or you’re frustrated with where you are in life, and it seems as though everyone around you is thriving. But, when we take an honest look at ourselves and see how God loves us (1 Corinthians 13), we realize we have no right to hold any grudges against our brothers and sisters.
