Farmer Suffers A Heart Attack In The Middle Of Harvesting And Then 60 Neighbors Show Up

A farmer suffers a heart attack in the middle of harvesting, and then 60 of his neighbors show up at his farm.

Sometimes what surprises us the most are the troubling moments of life that we do not see coming. In Divide County, North Dakota, a farmer suffered a heart attack right in the middle of harvesting his crops. But his neighbors stepped up in a beautiful way to help him!

Not only did each person show love through their presence, they each did their part to cut the farmer’s 1,000 acres of land. In total, they brought with them: 11 combines, 6 grain carts, and 15 semis to do the work. They worked tirelessly together and finished the task in 7 hours.

The farmer who suffered the heart attack was Lane Unhjem. He was harvesting his wheat and canola bins when his combine caught fire. Then cardiac arrest happened.

Those lovely people who rose to the occasion to help him out were family, friends, and neighbors.

Friend, Jenna Binde, was a part of the planning effort to support Lane.

“I talked to a couple of farmers, got their equipment, and then other people just started calling and we had equipment offered from all over the place in the county, and their workers to go with it,” she said. “Everybody knows the Unhjems. And they’re good people and good in the community, and just kind of the farming way of life too. You help your neighbor out when they need it and don’t expect anything in return.”

Without the proper harvest, Lane’s family’s income would have been negatively impacted for sure. His supporters couldn’t let that happen.
